Make the situation safe first

With water problems, limiting damage comes first. If safe, stop the water supply, keep electrical devices away and document visible damage. Chemical cleaners can damage pipes and seals and are not a default solution when the cause is unknown.

• Locate the main shut-off and affected supply
• Avoid electricity around escaping water
• Document photos, time and affected rooms
• Call a qualified service for backflow, gas smell or hot water
